Body History Museum – illumination & movement

Body History Museum is a multidisciplinary conceptual project about body history and body image – created from the perspective of a marginalized, disabled body with the idea that the body is a historical record. The body is an archive.

The museum takes on different forms but at POVA Alexandra Marina is showing her works focusing on illumination and movement, where the fat, disabled body takes space and experiences its history.

Alexandra Marina (b. 1986) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Pietarsaari who looks at body image and self-portraiture with a wide lens, using everything from objects to poems to x-rays, alongside photography, to capture and manifest the different bodies that have been called hers.
